Sattvic diet, mostly found in Ayurveda and Yoga literature, comprises of foods that contain sattva (goodness) guna (quality). Sattva Guna is responsible for a balanced body and mind. This gives rise to a healthy body and a positive mind. There are two other types. One is called Rajasik and other is tamasik. Whereas Rajasik food guarantee future bad health, Tamasik food makes a person sick right away. Sattvic diet is meant to include food and eating habit that is- pure, essential, natural, vital, energy-containing, clean, conscious, true, honest and wise. Sattvic diet is a regimen that places emphasis on seasonal foods, fruits, dairy products, nuts, seeds, oils, ripe vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and non-meat based proteins. Some Sattvic diet suggestions, such as its relative emphasis oncdairy products, is controversial. Sattvic diet is sometimes referred to as yogic diet in modern literature. In ancient and medieval era Yoga literature, the concept discussed is Mitahara, which literally means "moderation in eating" or regulated eating. Hope this helps.
