Lighting Up Our Hearts in this Diwali

This lightening of lamps during Diwali is of course a holy ritual but apart from that it gives a significant message and that is, to introspect our dark heart and lighten it with lamp of transcendental knowledge. Jealousy, hatred, envy, arrogance, lust, greed etc these are some symptoms of dark heart and everyone of us has dark side of heart. Where can one avail this knowledge which can eradicate this darkness? Which school or college teaches about that? This knowledge is not a syllabus of ordinary books but It's given in only our scriptures like Gita and Bhagavatam and can be received by the grace of God and genuine spiritualists. Peculiarity of this knowledge is its revealed into the heart of the student so an illiterate can also avail the benefits. The glories of our scripture is that they focus more into our heart than out side surrounding, Gita although spoken on battlefield, Lord didn't mentioned anything about martial arts or fighting techniques but it was all about how to fight inner war with our bad conditionings. Bhagavad Gita compare transcendental knowledge to, the Sun, a boat and blazing fire(BG Ch 4). Just like Sun dissipates the darkness, this knowledge dissipates the darkness of ignorance similarly just like a boat helps one to cross over the river this knowledge can help us to cross over the river of birth and death and just like fire turns wood into ashes this knowledge burns all sins.

The amazing soul- why is it amazing?

The Vedic wisdom-tradition offers us a coherent, cogent and extensive body of knowledge about the soul. One of the defining characteristics of the Vedic wisdom-tradition in general and the Bhagavad-Gita in particular is its clear and analytical treatment of the subject of the soul. It does not treat the soul vaguely as a metaphorical reference to our intangible essence. Rather, it presents the soul concretely as a very real spiritual entity with its own distinctive characteristics.

Translation: Śukadeva Gosvamī said: The Supreme Lord manifested the material intelligence, senses, mind and vital air of the living entities so that they could indulge their desires for sense gratification, take repeated births to engage in fruitive activities, become elevated in future lives and ultimately attain liberation. Purport: At the dawn of creation, when the conditioned living entities lay dormant within the transcendental body of Lord Viṣṇu, He initiated the process of creation by sending forth the coverings of intelligence, mind and so on for the living entities’ benefit. As stated here, Viṣṇu is the independent Lord (prabhu), and the living entities are His jana, dependents. Thus we should understand that the Lord creates the cosmos entirely for the living entities’ sake; compassion is His sole motive.
