This Sanskrit prayer of Srila Rupa Goswami is from his literary work “Stavamala”. Srila Rupa Goswami considers himself not qualified for even a glimpse of Krishna but affirms that only Krishna’s astonishing mercy only makes him approach Krishna. He urges Krishna to help him that his bee of mind be engaged in nectarine honey at the lotus feet of Krishna. He prays to Srila Sanatan Goswami for his mercy and wishes that he develops pure love for Krishna the way honey bee tastes the nectar from flowers. (1) (kṛṣṇa) deva! bhavantaḿ vande man-mānasa-madhukaram arpaya nija-pada-pańkaja-makarande 1) O Lord Sri Krsna! I am offering a prayer unto You. Please let the bee of my mind be offered the nectarian honey of Your lotus feet. (2) yadyapi samādhiṣu vidhir api paśyati na tava nakhāgra-marīcim idam icchāmi niśamya tavācyuta! tad api kṛpādbhuta-vīcim 2) Although Brahma in full samadhi cannot catch a glimpse of even a ray of the effulgence from the tips of Your toe-nails still, O Acyuta! Having heard of the waves of Your astonishing mercy, I long to receive Your grace. (3) bhaktir udañcati yadyapi mādhava! na tvayi mama tila-mātrī parameśvaratā tad api tavādhika-durghaṭa-ghaṭana-vidhātrī 3) O Madhava! Although I don't possess even a sesame seed of bhakti for You, still, by Your inconceivable power which makes the impossible possible, please fulfill the desires of my heart. (4) ayam avilolatayādya sanātana! kalitādbhuta-rasa-bhāram nivasatu nityam ihāmṛta-nindini-vindan madhurima-sāram 4) He Sanatana! Because Your lotus feet are filled with such wonderful rasa, let the bee of my mind always reside unwaveringly in that nectar which puts everything else to shame, for they are the essence of all sweetness. This is my only prayer.
