Lumpy virus attacks Mayapur goshala In India, tragedy has befallen the cattle at present. Reports of endless agony and tragic death of cows due to lumpy virus have been coming in from several quarters. Till date almost 75000 cows have lost their lives due to this virus. In this connection Dr Aadiroop Das, serving since many years as chief veterinarian of ISKCON Mayapur goshala in West Bengal says that he has been dealing with this disease since the last 3 years. He has saved the lives of many cows through timely care and awareness among people. Almost 80% of cows at the goshala have already developed immunity against this disease. The calves also do not get affected by it. Dr. Aadiroop suggests few important precautions to be taken to prevent its spread. Neem and cowdung should be ignited as the smoke that is emitted keeps flies, mosquitoes and other insects away who are the main carriers of this disease. The dung and urine of the affected cows should be disposed off as far away as possible. We sincerely appeal to all to protect cows in order to always receive protection by them.
